About Acupuncture

For thousands of years, acupuncture treatment & other modalities based on traditional Chinese medicine have been used to effectively treat illness, including symptoms that have no diagnosis in Western Medicine.

Acupuncture treatment uses a system called meridians- energy pathways running throughout the body. In traditional Chinese medicine, illness and injury occurs where there is a blockage of energy (qi) flow in these meridians. By inserting thin, sterile single-use needles into specific points on meridians, acupuncture treatment releases these blockages, promoting self-healing properties, and restores a balance in the whole body. Heat (moxibustion), pressure (guasha, acupressure), and suction (cupping) are also often used in our acupuncture treatment.

The fundamental understanding of life in traditional Chinese medicine is that every part of one’s body and spirit are connected. This leads us to address and treat the root cause of symptoms.
